Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke to cancel each other out

Bayer Leverkusen host Schalke at the BayArena on Friday night, as the home side look to secure their status in the Bundesliga for next season.
Bayer are 12th in the Bundesliga table, but just four points clear of the relegation play-off spot. A run of just one win in their last nine Bundesliga games has seen Tayfun Korkut’s side slipped perilously close to the drop zone.
Die Werkself have certainly underachieved this season, having previously challenged for the European spots on a regular basis in recent campaigns. A major problem for Bayer of late has been their home form in the Bundesliga, as they have won just two of their last ten games at the BayArena.
They are also currently on a run of three straight draws on home soil. However, a win is needed to stave off the very imminent threat of being dragged towards the danger zone in the German top-flight.
One positive heading into this clash is that Bayer have won four of their last five meetings between these two teams.
Schalke are just one place and two points above Bayer in the Bundesliga table. The visitors are another team that have played beneath themselves this season. Markus Weinzierl’s sides form has been inconsistent to say the least of late, as they have won two, drew two and lost two of their last six games in the German top-flight.
The visitor’s away form is why they themselves have not yet secured their Bundesliga status, as they have won just one of their last eight away games in the German top-flight. They have suffered defeats at Werder Bremen and Darmstadt in their last two games on their travels in the German top-flight.
Neither of these sides looks in confident mood ahead of this clash and Forebet predicts the game will end all-square.
