Hornets and Baggies to end all-square

Hornets and Baggies to end all-square

On Tuesday night Watford and West Brom clash at Vicarage Road in the Premier League, as the home side attempt to secure their Premier League status.

Watford recorded a valuable 1-0 home win against struggling Sunderland on Saturday to move up to 12th in the table. The Hornets are now seven points clear of the relegation zone. Walter Mazzarri’s team are only likely to need two more victories to secure top-flight football for next season.

The home sides form has not been great of late, though, as the win over Sunderland last time out ended a run of four Premier League games without a win. The Hornets recent form at Vicarage Road in the top-flight has been mixed, but they have suffered just three defeats in their last 12 home outings, so they are not easy to beat on home soil.

West Brom are currently in the limbo of eighth in the Premier League table after a creditable goalless draw at Manchester united on Saturday. The Baggies are currently six points behind Everton, who occupy seventh spot, but eight points ahead of ninth place Stoke.

If Tony Pulis’ side can pick up a win then they will be just three points behind the Everton in the table, although the Toffees do have a vastly superior goal difference.

The Baggies form has been inconsistent of late, as they have won two, drew two and lost two of their previous six league games. The side from the Midlands have a poor away record, winning just one of their last nine games on their travels and failing to win any of their last five league games on their travels.

The most likely outcome of this game seems to be the draw. Both sides have been inconsistent of late and this should be a tight encounter.
