Manchester United will bid to reignite their Champions League campaign when they take on Turkish giants Galatasaray at Rams Park on Wednesday.

In the reverse fixture back in early October, Galatasaray came from behind on two occasions to claim a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford.

As a result, the Red Devils find themselves rock bottom of Group A after four matches, with Galatasaray and Copenhagen sitting one point above Erik ten Hag’s side.

Let’s start by taking a closer look at the hosts, Galatasaray, who thrashed Alanyaspor 4-0 on Saturday, with Dries Mertens bagging a brace in the rout.

Consequently, Galatasaray find themselves joint top of the Turkish Super Lig table, having lost just one of their 13 league games this season.

In the Champions League, the Istanbul outfit have struggled for consistent this term, taking four points from a possible 12 while conceding nine goals.

Still, Galatasaray can take confidence from the fact that they have scored at least one goal in each of their previous 10 Champions League encounters.

Manchester United also claimed a convincing victory last time out, notching a 3-0 win against Everton to cement sixth place in the Premier League table.

The game will be remembered for Alejandro Garnacho’s spectacular overhead kick, which fired the Red Devils into the lead after just three minutes.

Erik ten Hag’s men have enjoyed plenty of success in the Premier League of late, winning five of their last six matches to remain within touching distance of the top four.

That said, United have lost three of their four UCL games this season, meaning they must improve if they are to qualify for the knockout phase.

Head-to-head: Galatasaray defeated Man Utd 3-2 at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture, with a red card for Casemiro preceding Mauro Icardi’s winner.

In terms of the bigger picture, the Turkish giants have won two of their three previous Champions League encounters with the Red Devils.

Team news: The hosts are expected to be without centre-backs Davinson Sanchez and Abdulkerim Bardakci for Wednesday’s clash.

As for Man Utd, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho are all unavailable.

Although United have impressed in the Premier League of late, their performances in the Champions League have not been good enough.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Galatasaray will do the double over Manchester United, potentially eliminating the English powerhouse from the competition.
