France will head to the Agia Sofia Stadium this Tuesday night to see if they can end their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with 10 wins from all 10 matches with one more match against Greece.
The 2018 world champions dismantled Gibraltar in their last outing, smashing them 14-0 where they defeated their previous record of 10-0.
Things went downhill quite quickly for Gibraltar that day, as Ethan Santos had 20 minutes to forget with an own goal and a red card soon after.
Marcus Thuram got the ball rolling with a goal in that game, as Warren Zaire-Emery became France's youngest-ever goalscorer in the first half.
Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick as well while wearing the captain’s armband, as Jonathan Clauss, Adrien Rabiot and Ousmane Dembele all got goals each. Kinglsey Coman also netted a brace, as did Olivier Giroud after coming on as a substitute.
France now have one of the best records across the Euro 2024 Qualifiers, as only Portugal boast of a better record with 36 goals scored and just two let in. France, however, have let in one goal less in Group B, played three fewer games and scored 27 goals in just seven matches.
Mbappe and co. have also beaten the Netherlands twice during this qualifying campaign, although they did lose in a friendly to Germany back in September with a penalty going in from Antoine Griezmann.
This is, however, their only loss in 2023 and the only other defeat they have suffered in the past year has been to Argentina in the World Cup final.
As for Greece, they head into this game having beaten New Zealand 2-0 in a friendly last Friday. Giannis Kostantellas and Giorgos Giakoumakis scored a goal each that day, but Greece are also unable to qualify for Euro 2024 through the automatic qualification places.
Depending on other results, they could still make the playoffs. However, with a three-point gap on the Netherlands and behind them in the head-to-head record because of two losses to them, Greece cannot make it into second.
They have also only won four games in Group B, as they secured a 2-1 home win over the Republic of Ireland before defeating the Irish over in Dublin 2-0. Further wins over Gibraltar home and away is all Greece have to boast of.
Forebet predicts yet another win for France and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
