Sunderland to be given relegation lifeline with Burnley victory

On Saturday struggling Sunderland host midtable Burnley at the Stadium of Light, in a massive game for the home side in their fight for top-flight survival.

The Black Cats are bottom of the Premier League table and are now six points away from safety. Three successive defeats have not helped in their fight for Premier League survival, neither has just one win in their last ten league outings.

One of the Black Cats main problems in recent games has been finding the net. David Moyes’ side have failed to score in five of their last six league games.

The side from the north east have depended on veteran striker Jermain Defoe to score the goals. The England international has delivered 14 league goals this season to earn himself a recall to the Three Lions squad at 34 years of age. The former Tottenham forward could be a key player in this clash.

Burnley head to the Stadium of Light having picked up just two points away from home all season. However, they will see this clash as a golden opportunity to register their first away win of the season on their travels in the league.

An encouraging factor in this game for the home side is the fact that the Clarets have a poor recent defensive record in the Premier League, conceding two or more goals in six of their last seven games.

Sean Dyche’s team have scored in their last seven away games in the top-flight, so they do still possess an attacking threat on their travels. The Clarets will be disappointed if they come away from this clash empty handed that is for sure.

However, Forebet predicts that is exactly what will happen as Sunderland give their hopes of surviving the drop a boost with a victory over the visitors.
