Arsenal’s hopes of a top four finish this season could receive a boost on Saturday lunchtime if the Gunners can get the better of West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The home side seem to have gone off the boil since reaching the 40-point mark. The Baggies are eighth, but their hopes of leapfrogging seventh-place Everton in the table were dashed last weekend, as the Toffees hammered Tony Pulis’ side 3-0 at Goodison Park.

The Baggies have now suffered consecutive defeats in the top-flight and now have little to play for this season. The side from the Midlands have a good home record of late in the Premier League, winning seven of their last nine games on home soil. A 2-0 defeat in their last home league game against Crystal Palace ended a four-game winning run.

Arsenal head into this clash fifth in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth-place Liverpool, but with two games in hand. The Gunners recent form has been poor, having suffered five defeats in their last eight games in all competitions.

Last time out Arsene Wenger’s side recorded a comfortable 5-0 win over non-league Lincoln City to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. In the league, the Gunners have suffered three defeats in their last four games.

The north London side have also suffered defeat in four of their last five away games in the top-flight, winning just once in the process. The Gunners have also been poor defensively on their travels in the Premier League, conceding two or more goals in five of their last six away games in the league.

Despite the Gunners poor recent form they are desperately in need of points, while the Baggies seem to already be on their summer holidays. Forebet predicts goals and an away victory in this clash.
