Eibar to aid European bid with win in Pamplona
Eibar have been one of the surprise packages in La Liga this season and currently lie eighth in the table. The minnows have gone from a team expected to battle against relegation to one that could finish the season in the European spots.
On Monday night Jose Luis Mendilibar’s team look to have a golden opportunity to make up ground on the teams above them as they travel to Pamplona to face struggling Osasuna.
The home side are enduring a nightmare campaign, sitting bottom of the table and 14 points away from safety. Peter Vasiljevic’s team have been in terrible form of late, losing their last six La Liga games and conceding 21 goals in the process.
Last time out in the Spanish top-flight Osasuna suffered a 5-2 defeat at Las Palmas. The game summed up Osasuna’s displays of late as they have been conceding far too many goals while winning just one of their last 26 La Liga games.
Their home record in La Liga is also very poor, as they have won just one of their last 20 home games in the Spanish top-flight.
Despite Eibar’s relatively lofty position in La Liga, they have been in inconsistent form of late, winning two, drawing one and losing two of their last five La Liga games.
One of Eibar’s weak points of late has been their away record in La Liga, as they have won just two of their last ten away games in the Spanish top-flight, so they are not great on their travels. The visitors will feel that this game represents a golden chance to improve that poor away record and stay in touch with the teams in the European spots.
Forebet predicts that Eibar will indeed improve their away record and leave Pamplona with three points that could keep them in the fight for European qualification this season.
