Black Cats in for more bad luck against the Citizens

Black Cats in for more bad luck against the Citizens

The last thing that bottom of the table Sunderland needs at the moment is a visit from free-scoring Manchester City to the Stadium of Light. However, that is what they are getting on Sunday afternoon.

City head to the north east having scored ten goals in their last two games in all competitions. A return to form of Argentinian superstar Sergio Aguero has been a major positive for the Citizens and bad news for their opponents. Aguero has scored four goals in his last two appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.

City as a team have been prolific in recent weeks, finding the net at least twice in seven of their last eight games in all competitions. The likes of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane have also hit form of late and City are looking far more dangerous going forward.

City could find themselves out of the top four by the time this game starts, so they will know that they cannot afford to slip-up in the north east.

Things are looking grim for basement dwellers Sunderland. David Moyes’ side are bottom of the table, but just three points from safety. The situation could be far worse for the Black Cats by the time this game kicks off, as all their relegation rivals are playing on Saturday.

The Black Cats fans must have forgotten what winning feels like, as they have recorded just one win in their last nine top-flight games. Moyes side have also failed to win in their last four home games in the league, although they did draw with both Liverpool and Tottenham in that run of games.

All in all this looks like a highly difficult game for the strugglers and it seems unlikely that they will pick up any points from this difficult encounter.
