Fresh from crushing RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Manchester City will aim to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals when they host Vincent Kompany’s Burnley on Saturday.

Man City hammered Leipzig 7-0 on Tuesday, with Erling Haaland scoring five goals. Meanwhile, Burnley claimed a 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic last time out.

With Pep Guardiola’s side occupying second place in the Premier League and Burnley miles clear at the Championship summit, Sunday’s showdown is destined to be an intriguing battle.

Let’s start by looking at the hosts, Manchester City, who produced a phenomenal performance to secure an 8-1 aggregate win in the Champions League round of 16 in midweek.

In addition to Haaland’s five goals, the Cityzens dominated from start to finish, with Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne completing the scoring.

Man City have now won each of their last five outings across all competitions, extending their unbeaten streak to nine matches.

Having lost just one of their previous 13 games – securing 10 wins in the process – Guardiola's men will be hopeful of reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.

As for Burnley, they are enjoying a remarkable season under the guidance of Man City legend Vincent Kompany, who has transformed the team’s playing style.

The Clarets find themselves 13 points clear at the top of the Championship table, having lost only two of their 36 league encounters this season.

Burnley kicked off their FA Cup campaign with a 4-2 win against Bournemouth before knocking out Ipswich Town and Fleetwood to reach the quarter-finals.

After avoiding defeat in each of their previous 17 games across all competitions, Burnley will be quietly confident of frustrating Man City.

Head-to-head: Burnley have only managed to win one of their last 19 meetings with Manchester City, suffering 15 defeats along the way.

It is also worth noting that Man City have won 14 of their previous 15 matches against the Clarets, scoring over 1.5 goals in 13 of those victories.

Team news: Manchester City came through Tuesday’s Champions League tie without picking up any injuries, meaning Guardiola still has a full-strength squad at his disposal.

On the flip side, Burnley look set to be without the injured trio of Josh Brownhill, Darko Churlinov and Taylor Harwood-Bellis for the foreseeable future.

Although Burnley are enjoying an outstanding season under Kompany, Man City are expected to flex their muscles on Saturday.

Forebet predicts that Manchester City will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to reaching the last four.
