Marseille are breathing down the neck of Paris Saint-Germain ahead of this weekend’s fixtures with the second-placed side set to welcome Nice to the Orange Velodrome on Sunday night with the away side still way off the mark compared to last campaign.

Nice were very impressive last season and for all their struggles this year, they have turned things around quite well in 2023 so far with an unbeaten run of four games.

In fact, their only losses in January have come in a 2-1 defeat to Rennes at the start of the month before a 1-0 loss to Le Puy Auvergne in the round of 64 of the French Cup.

Nice went on to stun Montpellier with six different goalscorers in a 6-1 win three weeks back, before drawing 0-0 with Reims in a game where the club had just three shots on target.

Nice then managed to edge past Lille 1-0 thanks to a goal from Gaetan Laborde, and he managed to steal the headlines last time out in a 1-0 away win against Lens.

This win, ironically, helped Marseille tremendously as they now head into this game in second and Nice have now moved up into eighth after this excellent win - it also likely goes down as their best win of the season.

Nice will be able to field Terem Moffi this weekend as well. He does join quite a star-studded lineup right now, as Ross Barkley and Joe Bryan from Premier League sides and the likes of Dante and Kasper Schmeichel look to build with him in what has been a troublesome season so far.

Moffi couldn’t play in the midweek Ligue 1 clash, but he has signed well in time for this one. It was a move that shocked Ligue 1 when Moffi swapped seventh-placed Lorient for 10th-placed Nice.

It now sees the Nigerian bring his 12 goals in 18 games to the Allianz Riviera as he could be the difference between his side now getting above Lorient and closer to the fifth place they ended up in last season.

Marseille beat Nantes 2-0 in the last game, not long after drawing against Monaco in a battle for the spots in the Champions League. They are now only behind PSG by five points.

Forebet predicts a win for Marseille and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
