Matchday 19 of the 2022-23 German Bundesliga season sees FC Koln welcome RB Leipzig to RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday afternoon.

Leipzig occupy third place in the Bundesliga table – one point shy of second-placed Union Berlin and two points behind table-topping Bayern Munich.

At the opposite end of the standings, Koln find themselves twelfth – six points outside the bottom three and 13 points worse off than Leipzig.

It is worth noting that Koln remain unbeaten following the World Cup break, having claimed one win and two draws since the restart.

After thrashing Werder Bremen 7-1, the Billy Goats held Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw before recording a goalless draw against Schalke 04 last time out.

That said, Koln have only managed to win five of their 18 Bundesliga games this season – registering seven draws and six losses in the process.

Given that Koln have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their previous nine home matches, they look destined to concede at least once against Leipzig.

The Red Bulls, on the other hand, have lost just three of their 18 league outings this term – picking up 10 wins and five draws along the way.

Not only are Leipzig the second-highest scorers in the Bundesliga (39), but they also have the fourth-best defensive record (24).

The Red Bulls are also unbeaten since the World Cup and head into Saturday’s clash on a three-game winning streak in all competitions.

When you look at the bigger picture, Leipzig have avoided defeat in each of their previous 17 games – meaning they are likely to notch a positive result this weekend.

Head-to-head: Koln have only managed to win two of their 11 Bundesliga meetings with Leipzig, suffering five defeats in this fixture since 2016.

Given that eight of the 11 top-flight meetings between Koln and Leipzig have produced over 2.5 goals, Saturday’s clash is destined to be a high-scoring affair.

Team news: Koln’s extensive injury list features Davie Selke, Kristian Pedersen, Luca Kilian, Mark Uth, Florian Dietz and Sebastian Andersson.

On the flip side, Leipzig are still without the injured quartet of Christopher Nkunku, Dani Olmo, Peter Gulacsi and Abdou Diallo.

When you couple Leipzig’s lengthy unbeaten run with their recent record against Koln, all the signs point towards an easy away win on Saturday.

Forebet predicts that RB Leipzig will claim a high-scoring victory over FC Koln, with the visitors expected to net over 2.5 goals in the process.
