Fiorentina were defeated in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia last season by Juventus. Now, La Viola are just one match away from returning to the Coppa Italia semifinals and redemption.

Torino are the team standing in Fiorentina’s way of qualifying for a second straight Coppa Italia semifinal. On Wednesday night, the old Serie A rivals will clash in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Fiorentina go into the game on a run of bad form. La Viola are winless in three straight matches with two defeats and a draw. Fiorentina did manage a 1-1 draw with Lazio at the weekend which could help them build confidence.

Torino are unbeaten in back-to-back games in Serie A ahead of the match on Wednesday. Like Fiorentina, Torino drew at the weekend, as they finished 2-2 with Empoli.

Wednesday’s match will be the second of the season between Fiorentina and Torino. The clubs met in on January 21 in Serie A with Torino winning 1-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Aleksey Miranchuk’s first-half goal was enough for Il Toro to win the match.

Before winning away in Florence, the home team was unbeaten in seven straight games featuring Fiorentina and Torino in all competitions. La Viola will hope the trend of the home team getting a positive result can return for the Coppa Italia quarterfinals.

Vincenzo Italiano has three players suffering from injuries at Fiorentina. He will be without the trio of Martinez Quarta, Gaetano Castrovilli, and Arthur Cabral. All three are nursing leg injuries and will miss games until February.

Former Real Madrid player Luka Jovic leads Fiorentina with seven goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.

Torino coach Ivan Juric could be without Valentino Lazaro after the midfielder picked up a ligament injury. Forward Pietro Pellegri is a doubt following a hamstring strain. Four Torino played have combined for 12 goals in all competitions with four apiece.

Fiorentina play well at the Stadio Artemio Franchi with a record of 8W-4D-3L, however, Torino won in Florence just two weeks ago. Torino have an away record of 4W-4D-4L.

Three of the last 10 games between these clubs in all competitions finished as draws. Wednesday’s Coppa Italia quarterfinals should finish as a stalemate as neither side can get the upper hand in regular time. Extra time and penalties may be needed to sort out the club that progresses to the next round.
