The high-flying Union Berlin will take on the Champions League-chasing Wolfsburg in the DFB-Pokal this Tuesday evening as action in Germany takes a break from the incredible Bundesliga season for the round of 16 ties in the cup.

The title race in the Bundesliga is arguably the most intriguing across Europe with Bayern Munich struggling to run away with the league as convincingly as they normally do now that their legendary main man, Robert Lewandowski, is in Spain.

In fact, after another winless game, Bayern have now welcomed the likes of Union right into the title mixture in Germany.

Urs Fischer's side are in their fourth season in the German top flight now, and after years of building up the league table and finishing fifth last campaign, the Berlin side now sit just one point behind the 32-time champions with more wins than Bayern as well.

Union managed to secure their 11th win in contrast to Bayern’s 10 this season last time out away to their arch rivals Hertha Berlin in the German capital.

Danilho Doekhi scored in the first half for the away side that day, as Union went on to ensure all three points were easily in the bag with a goal from Paul Seguin midway through the second 45.

The victory for Fischer's side now means only Borussia Dortmund in fourth have won the same amount of goals as them, while only Bayern at the top have let in fewer goals than the 22 of Union.

Since action resumed in the World Cup, Union have also gone on to smash Hoffenheim 3-1 in the capital, before heading on the road to meet with Werder Bremen in a 2-1 win in the Bundesliga.

In fact, many predicted the club would fall off a cliff in the return to action, but form has only got even better with them now in a genuine title race because of Bayern's collapse.

As for Wolfsburg, they also defeated Hertha a few weeks back in a 5-0 win over the club in Berlin. This also came after smashing Freiburg 6-0 in what was easily the best result of the season for the Wolves.

On the other hand, a 2-1 loss to Bremen for Niko Kovac's men has thrown them down into seventh.

It could be a much closer game than a league encounter between these two as it is in the DFB-Pokal. Forebet predicts a draw here and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
