Two Serie A sides in the bottom half of the table will meet this weekend in Italy’s top flight as Bologna welcomes Spezia to the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium off the back of a two-game winless run each for both teams.

Spezia looked to be starting up their life back in Italy after the World Cup a bit of momentum and hope. The club restarted things after the finals in Qatar with a 2-2 draw against Atalanta, although they were 2-0 up at one stage in the game.

Spezia then went on to draw 0-0 with Lecce, before beating Torino 1-0 in Turin to register one of their best spells of the past few months of action.

This form moved Spezia far away from the relegation zone in terms of points, as they now sit nine clear of Hellas Verona in 18th and above the relegation zone by three places.

On the other hand, they did lose 2-0 to Roma at the Stadio Alberto Picco last Sunday to register their ninth win of the season - only the bottom four have won more.

In fact, with still only four wins on the board, Spexia have scored the least amount of goals in Serie A for those sitting outside of the relegation spots with only 17 from 19 games.

Luca Gotti's men met with Atalanta once more around this time last week for a Coppa Italia round of 16 battle, as Albin Ekdal and Daniele Verde scored twice in the first half.

However, three goals in the first 45 for Atalanta and two more in the second half forced a 5-2 drubbing for Spezia.

As for Bologna, they also restarted their league season in topsy-turvy form. Roma beat them 1-0 before a 2-1 defeat to Atalanta, as they finally got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against Udinese - Nicola Sansone and Stefan Posch both scored another goal each that day.

Thiago Motta's side were then beaten narrowly by Lazio in Rome in the Coppa Italia round of 16, as they had just three shots on target in the match.

Worse yet for Bologna, they even drew 1-1 at home to the winless Cremonese on Monday, as Vlad Chiriches scored an own goal for the away side to force a 1-1 draw.

Motta’s men have now moved back down into 12th in the table but Forebet predicts them to win here on home soil and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
