Burnley home form bad news for Sunderland

On Saturday afternoon Sunderland travel to face Burnley at Turf Moor in a game that could be crucial at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Sunderland have struggled for results of late and are currently 18th in the table and two points from safety. Their away record is poor, as the Black Cats have lost four of their last five games on their travels in the Premier League.

To make matters worse they have also scored just three times in their previous seven away games in the top-flight. The Black Cats know a win would be enough to see them temporarily move out of the relegation zone.

However, a win at Burnley could be easier said than done. The Clarets may be 15th in the table, but their home form of late has been very strong, as they have won five of their last seven games at Turf Moor.

For most teams that is a strong record, but for a team at the bottom of the table, it is vital they maintain that good form on home soil. A victory over Sunderland could prove to be a major step in the right direction for Sean Dyche’s side, as it would put the Clarets nine points clear of the relegation zone.

The Clarets only home defeats in the last nine Premier League matches have come against Arsenal and Manchester City. The Black Cats will have to be at their best to beat the home side but have a long injury list heading into this clash.

Young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been outstanding at times this season, but is a doubt for the big basement battle and would be a major miss if he fails to recover in time to feature in this clash.

Forebet predicts that Burnley will record another home win and leave the Black Cats firmly in the relegation zone.
