The A-League returns to action after a break for the World Cup this weekend with Australia also out of the tournament with Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United set to battle it out at the Suncorp Stadium.

Form is likely to go out of the window after such a long break in the calendar because of the World Cup, but this shouldn't deter our attention away from how Brisbane managed to go on a three-game unbeaten run just prior to the break. They drew 1-1 with Western Sydney Wanderers, before drawing 0-0 with Melbourne Victory and beating Sydney FC 3-1.

It does now leave them ninth in the table, but the recent win over sixth-placed Sydney, they did put on their first and only win on the board. At the same time, there needs to be a slight improvement on their current form with the club drawing three, losing one and scoring the same amount (4) as they have conceded.

On the other hand, they are one of four teams in the 12-man A-League to have a game in hand, which could force them into as high as sixth if they win that game.

As for Adelaide, they are flying high in third right now and they have overturned their dreadful start to the season that saw them winless in the first three games. The club drew with Wellington Phoenix 1-1, before losing 2-0 to Macarthur and drawing with Sydney where they also got a player sent off.

Adelaide beat Perth Glory in their win game of the season, beating the club 2-1 thanks to goals from Craig Goodwin and Hiroshi Ibusuki - the former had a decent World Cup too. Western United were up next, as Goodwin and Ibusuki scored again before an own goal, while Ben Halloran scored a goal 11 minutes from time.

Adelaide beat Melbourne Victory in their last game before the World Cup break with Goodwin and Ibusuki continuing to score yet again, meaning they've netted at least one goal each in all three of Adelaide's victories this season. Ben Warland also scored for the club in the 3-0 easy win over Melbourne.

Brisabane will be desperate to get another win here to kick on in what has been a poor start to the new season. The club finished 11th last time out, 17 points behind Adelaide up in fourth.

Forebet predicts a victory for Adelaide and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
