Germany to Beat Costa Rica and Likely Head Through

Costa Rica and Germany each have a chance to get out of their group this Thursday night as they meet in the final set of group games at the 2022 Qatar World Cup in what is turning out to be one of the most intense groups at the World Cup so far as everyone can qualify or crash out.

Spain are looking the most likely to finish top of the group following on from their stunning 7-0 win over Costa Rica that keeps their goals difference way ahead of the rest in the group.

However, a 1-1 draw with Germany shortly after keeps their head to head record at an advantage too, and with Costa Rica getting a late winner against Japan, the pressure has now fallen back on the shoulders of Germany.

The four-time world champions won the World Cup just eight years ago and for the second tournament in a row since them, they will head home if they don’t collect all three points. Germany win here to qualify and hope that Spain beat Japan at the same time.

Should Japan defeat Spain and Germany beat Costa Rica, the four-time world champions may still head home because of goals difference over Spain and maybe Japan as well, while their head to head record is poor because of their winless start after two games.

What’s more, they’ve only scored two goals, meaning their goals scored record is also bad.

Germany did look much better against European rivals Spain, however and they managed to restrict the Spanish to just three shots on target compared to the four of their own.

The in-form Niclas Fullkrug finally got his chance to shine for Germany and he scored an equaliser late on after coming off the bench.

As for Costa Rica, they looked poor again against Japan, despite a 1-0 win. It was Keysher Fuller who scored with only nine minutes left on the clock that day and if they are to qualify, a draw could be all that is needed.

It’s set to be a very close game here as the results so far have been so topsy-turvy. Nobody really expected Japan to beat Germany and then Costa Rica went on to defeat Japan themselves.

In fact, Spain have been the only unbeaten side so far in this group and this game is set to be arguably the biggest in Costa Rican football history. Forebet predicts a win for Germany and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
