Arsenal Will Stay Top Before the Break With a Win Against Wolves
5241

Wolverhampton Wanderers will play hosts to Arsenal at Molineux this weekend in the final set of games before the World Cup break as the Gunners look to stay top of the table at Christmas for the first time since 2004.

Arsenal have, of course, been helped tremendously in this regard by the World Cup break. This game is the last fixture before Christmas as a result, meaning should they manage to match or better the result of Manchester City at home to Brentford, they will be top of the league on Christmas Day.

On the other hand, they have just lost in midweek at the Emirates to Brighton & Hove Albion and also have to deal with the fact that this is Wolves’ first game with a new manager.

The Gunners led 1-0 thanks to a goal from Eddie Nketiah against Brighton on Wednesday, after some excellent play from the in-form Reiss Nelson.

However, former Arsenal striker, Danny Welbeck, converted from the penalty spot and two more goals would follow in a 3-1 loss for the London outfit.

In the Premier League, however, they remain unbeaten since their loss to Manchester United months back and still sit ahead of City in the table by two points.

At the same time, despite the excellent of sides like City in defence, they remain the joint-best defensive side in the Premier League after 13 games, with only Newcastle United able to match their record of 11 goals let in.

What's more, Arsenal already have a gap of 11 points on Manchester United in fifth, and at this point in the season, should Arsenal now fail to get into the Champions League for next season, it would be disastrous.

As for Wolves, this is set to be the first game in charge for Julen Lopetegui and just like how things were at Sevilla for him recently in La Liga, he heads to Molineux with his new side in the relegation zone and only above last-placed Nottingham Forest on goals difference because of their 22 goals let in compared to Forest’s 30.

Wolves did, however, return to winning ways in midweek as they beat Leeds United 1-0. At the same time, though, the club managed to lose to Brighton last weekend and got just a point away to Brentford the week prior, meaning the club have been winless since Bruno Lage left.

Forebet predicts a win for Arsenal and over 2.5 goals in the game.
