Finland and Romania set for Group 3 stalemate

All of the major European leagues have been put on hold this week as the UEFA Nations League action returns with Finland playing host to Romania in this League B/Group 3 clash at the Helsingin olympiastadion in Helsinki.
The hosts look to make up lost ground, while Romania will be desperately looking to claw their way out of the relegation spot.
Finland have had to endure two away games on the trot in Group B and the Fins haven’t performed well on their travels as they were dealt defeats away at Friday’s upcoming opponents, Romania, in a 1-0 loss along with losing 3-2 at Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Finland will be keen to return to the home surroundings of their Helsinki stadium for this encounter.
Recent results in the Nations League have been reasonable enough though for Markku Kanerva’s side as the hosts have lost just three of their last nine games in this format overall, while also losing just one of their previous eight home games as well, which includes six wins and six clean sheets as well.
Romania head into this upcoming clash at the Helsingin olympiastadion having recorded just one win from their last six matches in all competitions which came in the form of a 1-0 home win against Friday’s upcoming hosts, Finland, back in mid-June of this year.
However, defeats to Greece, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro again, the latter being a heavy 3-0 loss at home last time out in this Nations League competition suggests that the visitors may have to settle for a point at best on Friday night.
Results away from home have also seen Romania struggle for any sort of consistency.
The visitors have managed to collect just two wins out of their last 12 outings on the road in all competitions, beating Iceland and minnows, Liechtenstein, but also slipping to seven defeats in the process as well.
Romania have also lost three of their last four away games at Nations League level too, so they may be happy to settle for a draw on the road here.
In the previous 13 meetings between these two nations, Romania have never lost to Finland but the hosts look capable of picking up at least a point here on home soil as they also look to avoid the relegation zone.
