Borussia Dortmund to post second Bundesliga win to start new campaign
9692

Freiburg host Borussia Dortmund on Friday night to kick off the Bundesliga weekend. The Breisgau-Brasilianer picked up a win on opening day and are aiming for a second straight victory to start the campaign.

Borussia Dortmund also won on opening day. The Yellow and Black picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen. New coach Edin Terzic is now looking for a second straight win and to potentially take Dortmund to the top of the table.

Freiburg smashed past Augsburg to start the new season 4-0. The Breisgau-Brasilianer were brilliant, but Augsburg are expected to battle relegation this season. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are expected to fight Bayern Munich for the title.

The Breisgau-Brasilianer got goals from Michael Gregoritsch, Vincenzo Grifo, Matthias Ginter, and Ritsu Doan on opening day. Doan joined the club in the summer as did Gregoritsch. The two signings have already paid off.

Borussia Dortmund got a 1-0 win versus Bayer Leverkusen thanks to a goal from Marco Reus in the 10th minute. Reus played as a No. 10 in the game against Bayer Leverkusen behind striker Youssoufa Moukoko.

Terzic set Dortmund up in a 4-3-3 formation with Reus playing as an attacking midfielder and Jude Bellingham and Mahmoud Dahoud playing more of a holding role.

The Dortmund coach could be without Nico Schlotterbeck for the game after he separated his shoulder versus Bayer Leverkusen. Schlotterbeck, who signed from Freiburg in the offseason, popped it back into place in the tunnel.

Freiburg coach Christian Streich played a 4-2-3-1 formation on matchday No. 1. He used Gregoritsch through the middle with Doan and Grifo on either side. Roland Sallai played behind Gregoritsch in attack.

Borussia Dortmund have head-to-head advantage over Freiburg. The Yellow and Black posted a record of 3W-1D-2L in the last six games versus Freiburg. The home team has won the last five games between these teams. Freiburg will hope the trend continues this weekend.

Dortmund will be without Nico Schultz due to a red card suspension. New forward Karim Adeyemi is a doubt with a leg injury. Niklas Sule is also a doubt due to a leg injury.

Streich will be without Lukas Holer due to a broken ankle. He won’t be back until November. Lukas Kubler and Kevin Schade are both doubts due to their injury issues.

The Friday night match should see Borussia Dortmund buck the trend of the home team winning when these sides meet. Borussia Dortmund should pick up a 2-1 win away to Freiburg.
