Jerv and Haugesund may settle for a point apiece

The Norwegian top flight is in action again on the weekend and features this upcoming clash in the Eliteserien between Jerv and Haugesund at the J.J. Ugland Stadion with both teams keen to pull themselves away from the lower reaches of the division.
Jerv had earlier made a promising start to their first ever season in the Norwegian top flight as the hosts picked up two wins in their opening three matches of the campaign.
But they have since struggled to maintain their early momentum and have indeed struggled to keep pace with their opponents.
Early wins against Stromsgodset and Kristiansund have been followed by an alarming slump in form which has seen Jerv suffer six defeats within their last seven games afterwards, which includes losing their last three home games on the trot.
Recent losses against Odd, Sarpsborg and HamKam on home soil suggest that a straight win for the hosts on Saturday afternoon may well be out of reach for Jerv.
But they haven’t played Haugesund before so they perhaps have the advantage of the unknown for this encounter.
Haugesund also find themselves in the bottom half of the Eliteserien, sitting in 13th place, but the visitors bring a solid looking run of four games without a loss into this Saturday’s clash at the J.J. Ugland Stadion which consist of three draws and a win.
Points picked up in draws with Rosenborg, Aalesund and Tromso have been boosted by a 4-2 home win against Viking last time out, so the visitors will be in confident mood as they prepare for this trip.
However, before we get too carried away, the bigger picture shows that Haugesund have managed to register just three wins out of their last 20 matches with two of these three wins being achieved on home soil at their Haugesund Sparebank Arena.
Seven of these last 20 matches resulted in stalemates, while away from home, Haugesund have really struggled with picking up all three points as they’ve secured just one win from their last 12 outings on the road.
Having lost seven of these 12 games and being involved in four draws as well, Haugesund may well settle for a point in this upcoming lower half duel as the visitors seek to extend their unbeaten run in the Eliteserien to five games.
