Sao Paulo to Remain in the Win Column by Defeating Last-Placed Juventude
2468

Two of the Brazilian Serie A strugglers are set to clash in the league this weekend with São Paulo welcoming Juventude to the Cícero Pompeu de Toledo Stadium with the home side looking to build on a fantastic victory over the league leaders Palmeiras.

The win over the table-topping side for Sao Paulo did come in the round of 16 Copa do Brasil first leg, but with a 1-0 victory, they now have the upper hand over a Palmeiras side who are in sensational form and who have previously lost just one game all season long across three different competitions.

Patrick scored again that day for his side, and it has made fans of the club forget about their poor league form for the time being, while they will also now have one eye on beating Universidad Catolica in the Copa Sudamericana next week.

Back in the league, however, Sao Paulo did in fact lose to Palmeiras 2-1 after taking the lead early on, which has now meant the club have registered just one win in their past seven fixtures in Serie A.

Rogério Ceni's men managed to beat America-MG and Cuiaba within this time, as they drew four games within this time too.

Seventh-placed Botafogo also beat them in the league, which has now forced the club down into ninth and three points off the Copa Libertadores group stage spots in the table.

Nevertheless, their recent cup runs have been commendable, and fans will be confident this can start to spill over into some positive Serie A form.

Juventude, on the other hand, are in absolute disarray. They have won only two games all season long in Brazil's top flight across the 13 games to date, with them losing seven and conceding the most goals in the league with 24 going in.

What’s more, they've scored 12 of their own, and haven't been shy in getting a few goals this campaign despite their lack of winning form.

Juventud are on a four-game losing run too ever since they beat Fluminense back at the start of this month, as Athletico-PR, Corinthians, Santos, and Atletico Goianiense have all defeated them within this time.

It’s no surprise to see Ceni’s side as the clear favourites to win this game, and it would be quite an upset if Sao Paulo cannot get the job done not long after beating the league leaders, Palmeiras, just a few days ago.

Forebet predicts a win for the home side here, and for Sao Paulo and Juventude to witness over 2.5 goals in the game.
