Palmeiras Expected to Win Again in Serie A Against Avai
2287

Palmeiras will be aiming to stay top of the table when they travel to the Aderbal Ramos da Silva Stadium where a topsy-turvy Avai side awaits them with the home outfit sitting way down in 11th and nine points adrift of the league leaders.

It's been a fantastic campaign for Palmeiras in the Brazilian top flight, and after four years without the title, they have made very positive steps early on to reclaim the throne.

The club have finished fourth, seventh, and third within the past few years, but with their stunning goals difference record, nobody in Brazil has been able to get near them in the league so far.

Abel Ferreira's men did lose in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil clash with Sao Paulo on Thursday, however, which does now mean they've lost only twice in all competitions since action began a few months back.

Their only other defeat came in the league back in early April, as Ceara defeated them 3-2 against all the odds away from home.

Palmeiras are only three points above second place in Serie A, but it is their stunning goals difference record that is catching the eye. After just 13 games so far, the club have let in only eight goals, and scored an excellent array of 25 goals.

No side across the league has conceded fewer, while they are also, by a distance, the highest-scoring side in Brazil too.

To put this fantastic run of form in perspective, Avai have conceded double (19) the amount of goals Palmeiras have let in, while also scoring 10 goals fewer.

The league leaders have also won all four of their past Serie A fixtures, with them smashing Botafogo 4-0, Coritiba 2-0, Atlético Goianiense 4-2, and Sao Paulo 2-1, just before the latter defeated them in the Copa do Brasil.

Avaí have fallen back into the losing column recently too, after they previously won their last two games against Botafogo and Fortaleza by scoring four goals and letting in just two along the way.

Fluminense eased past them last time out with a 2-0 win, and it now leaves the club in 11th and four points off the Copa Libertadores group stage spots in the table.

Palmeiras are in sensational form, despite their recent loss, which they can easily overturn in the second leg anyhow. The league leaders are expected to ease to another victory here, and Forebet predicts another Palmeiras win and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
