Netherlands vs Poland - 11/06/2022

The Netherlands have been the cream of the crop in UEFA Nations League A Group 4. The Dutch took six points from their opening two matches and go into matchday 3 against Poland looking to take command of Group 4.
Poland got off to a strong start with a 2-1 win against Wales. However, a 6-1 setback against Belgium now has Poland chasing the top two sides in Group 4.
Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands defeated Belgium to start the Nations League 4-1. A second half stoppage-time winner from Wout Weghorst set the Dutch to a 2-1 victory over Wales on matchday 2.
The last four matches between the Netherlands and Poland ended in wins for the Dutch. The Netherlands outscored Poland 8-3 across their last four meetings. The last time these teams played was in 2020 with the Netherlands posting a 2-1 victory.
These sides were grouped together in the previous Nations League. The Dutch outscored Poland 3-1 in their two meetings in 2020-21.
Van Gaal’s Dutch are in fine form ahead of Saturday’s match. The Netherlands are unbeaten in four games in 2022 with three wins and one draw. Poland suffered their first defeat on 2022 last time out versus the Belgians.
Prior to the 6-1 battering against Belgium, Poland were unbeaten in three straight games. Two of those games finished as wins and one as a draw.
Due to injuries and fitness, managers at the Nations League have had to rotate their players. Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is not playing with the Dutch team after being given time off.
Stefan de Vrij and Jordan Teze could anchor the Netherlands defence once more. Matthjis de Ligt was removed before the end of the match versus Wales. De Ligt could be kept on the bench from the start this time around.
Memphis Depay could start once more after being an unused sub versus Wales. Frenkie De Jong and Steven Bergwijn are in contention to start the game.
Poland need to get the taste of the 6-1 smashing at the hands of Belgium out of their mounts. The Polish team led after 28 minutes when Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring. From there, Belgium scored six straight goals.
Lewandowski is likely to start in attack. Jan Bednarek and Kamil Glik could be used to anchor the Polish defence once more.
The Netherlands are in good form while Poland are coming off of a 6-1 defeat. The Dutch should continue their winning ways at home as they post a 1-0 win. It was a narrow win last time out versus Wales and another one-goal winning margin is on the cards for the Dutch.
