Brentford set to relegate Leeds on final day
4588

Leeds United will be hoping to avoid relegation when they visit Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season.

As it stands, Jesse Marsch’s side occupy the third and final relegation place. Although they are level with seventeenth-place Burnley on 35 points, their goal difference is far worse.

As for Brentford, they are sitting pretty in eleventh place – 11 points ahead of Leeds. They could even secure a top-half finish if results go their way on Sunday.

Brentford came from behind on two occasions to claim a 3-2 victory over relegation-threatened Everton at Goodison Park last time out.

Thanks to last weekend’s triumph, the Bees head into the final day of the 2021-22 Premier League season in a two-game winning streak.

Better still, Brentford have won five of their last seven Premier League outings – as well as seven of their previous ten. Talk about a strong end to the campaign!

Thomas Frank would have been happy for his team to avoid relegation this season. However, they now have the chance to finish in the top half of the table.

On the flip side, Leeds claimed a crucial late draw against Brighton last time out – thanks to a 92-minute equalizer from Pascal Struijk.

Although Jesse Marsch’s men have failed to win any of their previous five outings, they can take huge confidence from last weekend’s last-gasp draw.

That said, it is worth pointing out that Leeds have only managed to score one goal across their previous five Premier League games.

To make matters worse for Marsch’s side, they have won just three of their past 17 league outings – recording four draws and ten losses along the way.

Head-to-head: Brentford and Leeds played out a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture, meaning three of their previous five meetings have ended in a draw.

It is worth noting, however, that Brentford have only managed to win one of their last six meetings with Leeds across all competitions.

Team news: Mathias Jorgensen won’t feature this weekend, while there are also question marks over Saman Ghoddos, Ethan Pinnock and Frank Onyeka for Brentford.

Leeds will be without the suspended duo of Luke Ayling and Daniel James. Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford, Adam Forshaw, Stuart Dallas and Tyler Roberts are injured.

Although Leeds will be desperate to avoid relegation on Sunday, their leaky defence is likely to let them down.

Forebet predicts that Brentford will score over 1.5 goals on their way to beating Leeds, relegating Marsch’s side in the process.
