Rangnick to End His United Managerial Career With a Win Away to Palace
5115

Ralf Rangnick will take charge of his final game as Manchester United manager before moving to his consultancy role as the Red Devils travel to Selhurst Park on the last day of the season as they aim to secure Europa League football.

After finishing second under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last campaign, in 2021/22, it’s been yet another dismal campaign for United.

In fact, it's easily been the club's worst-ever campaign in the Premier League as they have 58 points, which is already eight fewer than the season David Moyes was in charge where they finished seventh.

Not only have Rangnick's men put in the worst points tally on record in the Premier League for the club, but with 56 goals conceded and 57 scored, it's also their worst-ever defensive display in the 30-year Premier League history.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly set to be in attendance at Selhurst Park as he witnesses his new side live for the first time since taking the job a few weeks back.

Now, with Palace coming off the back of a torrid result away to Everton, he'll be looking for United to get a positive result here.

Palace went 2-0 up at Goodison Park on Thursday evening as it looked like they would storm to victory on Merseyside.

However, a complete capitulation in the second half saw them lose 3-2, with Jean Philippe Mateta's goal and another Jordan Ayew strike becoming meaningless come 90 minutes.

The point at Goodison has now meant that United cannot finish any higher than 10th, with Leicester City in ninth being four points clear.

On the other hand, Newcastle United, Brentford and Brighton can all be caught with their inferior goals difference compared to Palace's, but they must win and hope the other three lose on the final day.

United may look to field some youngsters for this game with a whole host of players set to leave this summer, but with them only two clear of seventh-placed West Ham while having a worse goals difference, they're going to need to get the win here to avoid dropping into the Europa Conference League.

Moreover, after losing 4-0 to Brighton at the AMEX in arguably their worst performance in recent seasons on the road, Rangnick's side will be desperate for all three points to have something to cheer about.

Forebet predicts a win for United here after Palace’s disaster in midweek, and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
