Bayern Munich set to cap off Bundesliga season with easy victory over Wolfsburg
7310

Having already wrapped up the Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich will be looking to finish the season on a high note when they face Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday.

As we head into the final weekend of the season, the champions find themselves ten points clear of second-place Borussia Dortmund and 15 points ahead of third-place Bayer Leverkusen.

At the opposite end of the table, Wolfsburg occupy thirteenth place. Although they are 11 points clear of the bottom three, they are a whopping 35 points behind Bayern Munich.

Wolfsburg have only managed to win 12 of their 33 Bundesliga games this season, recording five draws and 16 defeats along the way.

Only Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have drawn fewer games than Wolfsburg, while only Hertha Berlin and Greuther Furth have suffered more losses.

That said, the Wolves are finishing the season strongly. They have lost just one of their last five outings and head into Saturday’s clash on a three-game unbeaten streak.

Given that only six teams have conceded more goals than Wolfsburg this term, they look set to struggle against the league’s meanest attack.

As for Bayern Munich, they have lost just five of their 33 league encounters this season – picking up 24 wins and four draws in the process.

Not only do they have the best offensive record in the Bundesliga (95), but they also boast the best defensive record (35).

It is worth noting, however, that Bayern seem to have taken their foot off the gas since clinching the title – having lost to Mainz and drawn with Stuttgart in their past two games.

Still, with Robert Lewandowski – who has scored 34 goals in 33 Bundesliga games this term – leading the line, the Bavarians could run riot against the Wolves.

Head-to-head: Wolfsburg have failed to win any of their last 16 encounters with Bayern Munich across all competitions.

It is also worth pointing out that Bayern have scored over 2.5 goals in five of their previous seven matches against the Wolves.

Team news: Wolfsburg’s lengthy injury list includes William, Paulo Otavio, Luca Waldschmidt, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Koen Casteels.

Bayern Munich will be without injured right-back Bouna Sarr on Saturday as he continues to recover from a patella problem.

Although Wolfsburg have upped their game in recent weeks, Bayern Munich are expected to finish the season with a comfortable win.

Forebet predicts that Bayern Munich will once again score over 2.5 goals on their way to dispatching Wolfsburg.
