Sevilla Expected to Beat Levante and Keep the Pressure on Second-Placed Barcelona

Levante will look to cut the gap from those outside of the relegation zone when they play hosts to Sevilla at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia as the away side look to come back from a bitter defeat to league leaders Real Madrid.

The loss to the destined champions has all but mathematically ended Sevilla’s race in the title with the gap now 15 points on the table toppers, and although a La Liga medal was never likely, they have also lost ground on second and now sit outside the top two for the first time in months.

The revitalised form of Barcelona under their former captain Xavi has sent them into second in recent weeks, but with them losing to Cadiz at the Nou Camp just a few days ago, Sevilla can now get ahead of them for the time being with a win, as Barcelona kick off two hours later away to Real Sociedad.

It's been a tough past month for Julen Lopetegui's men, as they have also crashed out of the Europa League to West Ham United, before registering a record of one draw, two losses, and just one victory in La Liga across their games since that loss.

The defeats were big ones too, as both Barcelona and Madrid edged past them by one goal, with a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad being the other result, along with their 4-2 win over Granada. The clash against Granada was a stunning one, though, as Sevilla equalised in the 93rd minute of the game, only to get the win in the 99th minute from Papu Gomez.

They got a taste of their own medicine just a few days ago, however, as Karim Benzema scored in stoppage time to steal all three points from them at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium after leading 2-0 from goals by Ivan Rakitic and Erik Lamela.

Levante have had it tough recently too, as they lost to Barcelona after leading on two occasions. They managed to return to winning ways last time out, though, as they hammered Granada 4-1 - it's now two wins and one loss in April after beating Villarreal 2-0.

Levante still have a gap of four points to deal with on 17th-placed Granada in order to get out of the relegation zone, but with their form significantly better from the first 25 games of the season, there is still a chance they can get out of trouble.

Against a vengeful Sevilla, however, it’s going to be a tough one, and Forebet predicts they will win here and see over 2.5 goals in the game.
