A Thrilling High-Scoring Draw Expected Between Derby and Birmingham
Derby County vs Birmingham City - 30/01/2022
3803
Derby County will welcome Birmingham City to the Pride Park Stadium this weekend as the Rams look to get further away from the foot of the table just as the Blues look to prevent themselves from being sucked further into the relegation battle.
Wayne Rooney has been doing a sensational job in the Midlands against all the odds and Derby are now off the bottom of the table for the first time this season and for the first time since the club faced two points deductions worth a total of 21 points.
It has all but guaranteed their demotion to League One and even with the former England captain proving his worth as a manager, even for this excellence and experience, it all seems a little bit too far for him to keep the Rams up.
Nevertheless, they are on 14 points from 27 games and are putting up a serious fight to stay in the division
What makes Rooney’s work all the more brilliant is how the club now have just as many wins as they have defeats (8), and combined with their 11 draws, his side are now just eight points away from leaping out of the drop zone with 19 games left to play.
What has all but summed up their performances on the pitch this campaign is the club’s 26 goals scored and their 26 conceded, along with their eight wins and eight losses.
It reads as a very topsy-turvy season, but at the same time, it shows how well the club have done against the odds.
The Rams did return to losing ways last time out, however, as they lost 2-1 to Nottingham Forest after winning four of their past five games. These three points came against Blackpool, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Sheffield United.
As for Birmingham, it's been another season of torrid form for them as they've conceded 42 goals in just 28 games and won only eight, losing 12, and drawing the other eight.
The club have also only won twice in their past 10 games as they defeated Blackpool and Barnsley in this time, but also saw damning defeats to the likes of Fulham and Blackburn Rovers.
With this in mind, along with Derby’s form, it’s set to be a close game, and Forebet predicts a game of over 2.5 goals and a draw here as the two look like fighting relegation for the season.
