Sevilla’s Title Challenge to Gain More Momentum With a Win Over Celta Vigo
Sevilla FC vs Celta de Vigo - 22/01/2022

Celta Vigo will pay a visit to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium to face off against the title-challenging Sevilla just as the away side look to pick up some steam of their own and break into the top half of the table.
It has been a topsy-turvy season once again for Celta Vigo who look like they may struggle to improve on their eighth-placed finish that came last campaign.
They did win 14 games in 2020/21, and with just the seven and nine further defeats, it's hard to argue their case against such an in-form Sevilla side.
At the same time, their 24 goals scored and the 23 they have conceded has all but summed up their season so far and how it tends to go one way or the other for them. The club have been in excellent form in the league, however, despite losing to Real Sociedad just two weeks ago.
In the past five games, that loss remains the only one they have tasted as they drew with Mallorca, beat Espanyol 3-1, and delivered a 2-0 defeat to Real Betis and Osasuna to reestablish themselves as a threat to those in the top 10.
On the other hand, Celta were on the opposite end of one of the upsets of recent times in Spanish football, as third tier Atletico Baleares won 2-1 in the Copa del Rey earlier on in January.
It does mean Eduardo Coudet’s men are now simply fighting in La Liga until the season closes, and following such a dismal defeat, anything but a top eight finish would bring pressure onto Coudet’s shoulders.
Sevilla, however, couldn’t be asking for a much better season in many ways. They currently sit only four points behind leaders Real Madrid, and while it is expected that Carlo Ancelotti's men will win the title, the tide could change rapidly as both clubs have had just the two losses in the league so far.
Julen Lopetegui's men did fail to cash in on their game in hand during the week as they drew 1-1 with Valencia, but nevertheless, they are still unbeaten in La Liga since losing to Real back in October.
Sevilla just look too strong for almost everyone in Spain right now and it almost isn’t being talked about how close they are running in this title race. For this reason, along with Celta’s struggles, Forebet predicts a win for the second-placed side and a game that will see under 2.5 goals.
