Just two points separate Manchester United and West Ham United as the two sides prepare to do battle on Saturday.

The Hammers sit fourth in the Premier League table – seven points behind third-place Chelsea and one point clear of fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur.

Man United, meanwhile, find themselves seventh – two points behind West Ham with a game in hand over David Moyes’ side.

The Red Devils come into Saturday’s clash on the back of a 3-1 victory over Brentford in midweek, with Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford getting on the scoresheet.

That means they have lost just one of their previous nine Premier League clashes, picking up five wins and three draws along the way.

Bruno Fernandes has been key to Man Utd’s recent upturn. The Portuguese playmakers bagged a brace against Aston Villa last weekend before notching two assists on Wednesday.

Looking at the bigger picture, the Red Devils have only lost nine of their past 53 matches in the Premier League.

On the flip side, West Ham suffered a 3-2 loss to Leeds United last weekend – despite levelling the score on two occasions.

That defeat ended a run of three straight Premier League wins for the Hammers, with victories over Watford, Crystal Palace and Norwich City coming before the visit of Leeds.

Still, Moyes’ men remain in a strong position. They have lost just seven of their 22 league matches this season, recording 11 wins and four draws in the process.

It is also worth noting that West Ham have managed to score at least two goals in each of their past six outings across all competitions.

Head-to-head: The Hammers have only managed to win one of their previous six meetings with Man Utd in all competitions.

The Red Devils have won three of the past five matches between the teams, scoring over 1.5 goals on two occasions during that period.

Team news: Man Utd will be without injured stars Paul Pogba, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Edinson Cavani on Saturday. Meanwhile, Eric Bailly is away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

As for West Ham, Said Benrahma is on AFCON duty with Algeria. Mark Noble, Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna are all injured.

Although the Hammers are enjoying a hugely impressive season, Man Utd’s recent record in this fixture is difficult to ignore.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Man Utd will edge out West Ham on Saturday – scoring over 1.5 goals en route to victory.
