Watford and Norwich braced for vital relegation six-pointer

Watford and Norwich City kick off Round 23 in the Premier League on Friday, with both sides battling to avoid relegation.

The Hornets find themselves seventeenth in the table, having taken just 14 points from their 19 games this season.

Meanwhile, the Canaries sit eighteenth – one point behind Watford. It is worth noting, however, that Watford have two games in hand over Dean Smith’s side.

Watford come into this clash on the back of a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United after their clash with Burnley on Tuesday was postponed.

The Hornets have failed to win any of their previous seven Premier League matches, registering a draw and six losses along the way.

When you look at the bigger picture, Watford have only managed to win four of their 19 league games this season.

They are also among the lowest scorers in the English top flight, having netted just 23 goals this campaign.

On the topic of low scorers, Norwich officially have the worst offensive record in the Premier League this season.

The Canaries have netted a measly ten goals in 21 games, meaning they are averaging less than 0.5 goals per game.

It is also worth pointing out that Norwich have the worst defensive record in the division, having conceded a whopping 45 goals. That is more than two goals per game on average.

Norwich finally ended their six-match losing streak in the Premier League by beating Everton 2-1 last weekend.

That said, there is no hiding from the fact that Norwich have only managed to win three of their 21 Premier League clashes this term.

Head-to-head: Watford claimed a 3-1 victory over Norwich in the reverse fixture back in September, with Ismaila Sarr bagging a brace.

That means Norwich have won each of their previous five meetings with the Canaries across all competitions, keeping three clean sheets in that time.

Team news: Watford are currently without AFCON trio Imran Louza, Adam Masina and Willian Troost-Ekong. Unfortunately, key man Ismaila Sarr is out injured.

Billy Gilmour, Christoph Zimmermann and Mathias Norman are definite injury absentees for Norwich. The Canaries also have multiple doubts for Friday’s clash.

Watford’s superior scoring record should give them the edge on Friday night. The Hornets have netted 23 goals this season, while the Canaries have only managed ten.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Watford will edge out Norwich – scoring over 1.5 goals on their way to victory.
