The French Ligue 1 action continues on Saturday with Lens playing host to Marseille at their Stade Bollaert-Delelis with the hosts looking to post a third successive league win on the trot.

Lens have captured recent back-to-back wins in the French top flight having picked up victories over Rennes and St Etienne in 1-0 and 2-1 wins respectively which has helped lift Saturday evening’s hosts up into 6th place and on the fringes of the top five pack.

Indeed, Lens are now level on 33 points apiece with 5th placed Monaco prior to this weekend’s fixtures in Ligue 1 but having managed to win just two of their last eight matches overall, this upcoming clash against Marseille may well be a tough assignment for the hosts.

Defeats to Brest, Nantes and Nice also suggest that Lens still have plenty of work ahead of them to emerge as serious contenders for a possible top five finish in the domestic top flight but results at home have at least been encouraging.

Lens are unbeaten in their last six home games, winning four of these while also drawing five of their last 11 at home as well.

Saturday’s visitors, Marseille, also bring a promising sequence of results into this upcoming clash at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis as they’re unbeaten in their last four games overall which includes wins against Strasbourg and Bordeaux, both of which were away from home.

In addition, Marseille have also picked up points in draws with Reims and Lille in recent weeks, while the bigger picture shows that the visitors have lost just one of their last 12 matches overall in Ligue 1.

Within this solid sequence of results, Marseille have also been involved in no fewer than five stalemates so the prospects of another draw away at Lens looks like being a distinct possibility.

Marseille have also performed well on the road though of late as well, with the visitors winning each of their last four away games on the trot with victories collected at Clermont, Nantes, Strasbourg and Bordeaux respectively, while also losing just once in their last 11 matches on their travels.

With both Lens and Marseille in reasonably solid form, this upcoming tussle could see the two sides cancelling each other out with a point apiece.
