Bordeaux head into Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash with Rennes on a three-match losing streak in all competitions. Girondins are dangerously close to Ligue 1’s relegation zone and need to collect points to move away from the drop.

Rennes will host Bordeaux with the aim of moving closer to the Ligue 1 top three. The Red and Black are currently fourth in the league standings. A run of poor form has Rennes trending down the table rather than up it.

Manager Bruno Genesio’s team has lost three straight games in Ligue 1. They are five points off of second-place Nice and third-place Marseille. Fifth-place Montpellier are level on points with Rennes in the battle for the top three.

Bordeaux have lost four of their last six games. Their last two games in Ligue 1 both finished in defeat. Girondins have conceded the league’s most goals this season with 44.

Rennes have conceded Ligue 1’s fourth-fewest goals with just 19. The Red and Black have scored the league’s third-most goals with 34.

The reverse fixture between Rennes and Bordeaux finished 1-1. Rennes’ Gaetan Laborde scored in the 56th minute to put the Red and Black into the lead. Bordeaux scored with two minutes to play courtesy of Mexer.

Bordeaux are actually undefeated in three straight matches. Rennes’ record against Bordeaux in the teams’ last 10 games in all competitions is 4W-4D-2L.

Rennes will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways thanks to Bordeaux’s poor form.

Rennes have Ligue 1’s third-best home points total with 19 points from 30 possible. Bordeaux have taken just 10 points from 27 points possible on the road.

Bordeaux coach Vladimir Petkovic could be without Amadou Traore and Jimmy Briand due to injuries. Jean Onana and Gideon Mensah are both at the Africa Cup of Nations. Paul Baysse is a doubt due to an ACL injury.

Rennes coach Genesio will be without Alfred Gomis, Kamal-Deen Sulemana, Nayef Aguerd, and Hamari Traore due to being away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Romain Salin is a doubt with a calf injury. Defender Jeremy Gelin is ruled out with a knee injury until March.

The Red and Black have an excellent head-to-head record against Bordeaux historically. With Girondins in really poor form, Rennes should claim a win at full-time.

Four of the last 10 games between these sides finished with both teams scoring. Once again, both teams should score with Rennes picking up a victory.
