There are two Serie A games taking place on Monday, one of which sees Fiorentina welcome relegation-battlers Genoa to Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Genoa find themselves second from bottom in the Serie A table, having won just one of their 21 games this season.
At the other end of the standings, Fiorentina site seventh – nine points outside the top four. They are also 20 points ahead of Genoa.
Fiorentina have won ten of their 20 Serie A games this term, recording two draws and eight losses along the way.
However, La Viola have taken a turn for the worse of late. They have failed to win any of their past three league games, recording two draws and one defeat in the process.
Interestingly, Fiorentina failed to register a single draw across their opening 17 Serie A matches this season.
La Viola have been extremely strong on home soil this term. In fact, they have avoided defeat in each of their previous six home matches in Serie A.
As we already know, Genoa have won just one of their 21 league matches this season – registering nine draws and 11 losses.
They picked up their sole win on Matchday 3, meaning they head into Monday’s clash on an 18-game winless streak in Serie A.
Genoa have lost five of their past seven league games, recording draws with Atalanta and Sassuolo during that period.
If it weren’t for the wretched form of fellow-strugglers Salernitana, Genoa would almost certainly find themselves rock bottom of Serie A right now.
Head-to-head: Fiorentina are currently enjoying a four-game unbeaten streak against Geona and claimed a 2-1 victory in this fixture back in September.
When you look at the bigger picture, Genoa have only managed to win one of their previous ten Serie A meetings with La Viola.
Team news: Fiorentina will be without Riccardo Sottil (injury) and Sofyan Amrabat (Africa Cup of Nations) on Monday.
Genoa could be without as many as seven players for the trip to Florence, with Nikola Maksimovic, Valon Behrami and Yayah Kallon among the potential absentees.
Given the 20-point gulf between these two sides, all the signs point towards a comfortable home win here.
With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Fiorentina will score over 1.5 goals on their way to beating Genoa – keeping a clean sheet in the process.
