Paris FC and Lyon to both score in cup-tie

Although they sit one division below their more illustrious opponents, Lyon, Friday night’s Ligue 2 hosts, Paris FC, will be seeking to record an eighth win on the trot in all competitions when they return to their Stade Charléty ground for this upcoming Coupe de France clash.

Ligue 2 victories over Dijon, Rodez, Caen, Bastia and Valenciennes have been further boosted by wins in the early rounds of this season’s Coupe de France which have seen Paris FC register wins against Sedan (on penalties) and a crushing 14-0 landslide victory over CSC Cayenne.

However, this upcoming cup-tie against Lyon represents a much tougher challenge for the Paris outfit but having suffered just one defeat out of their last 11 matches in all competitions at home, Paris FC may well fancy their chances of causing an upset here on Friday night.

Lyon are without a win in their last four matches in all competitions having been handed a 2-1 loss at home to Reims which was followed by three draws on the trot.

A 2-2 and 0-0 stalemates with Bordeaux and Lille in Ligue 1 along with a 1-1 draw at home with Scottish Premiership side, Rangers, in the Europa League.

Results overall this season for Lyon have been fairly disappointing as the visitors currently occupy 13th place on the Ligue 1 ladder and the fact that they’ve been unable to put any sort of meaningful run of results together suggests the goals market may be the best option here.

Indeed, 15 of Lyon’s 23 matches to date this season in all competitions have resulted in both teams scoring and with this being a cup match, Friday’s tussle with Paris FC could also likely lead to both teams hitting the back of the net.

Opposition intel looks fairly thin on the ground for both clubs heading into this encounter as these two sides have never met before in any sort of competition so this could make for an interesting cup-tie at Stade Charléty.

In addition, seven out of Lyon’s last nine away games in all competitions have seen both teams score and combining the unpredictable nature of the domestic cup competition as well, the prospect of both teams scoring here looks a fairly promising option.
