The first Merseyside Derby of the season takes place at Goodison Park on Wednesday as Everton welcome Liverpool to the blue side of the city.

The Toffees are in desperate need of a turnaround. They have slipped to fourteenth in the Premier League table and head into Wednesday’s clash on a seven-game winless run.

At the opposite end of the standings, Liverpool sit third – 13 points ahead of Everton – having lost just one of their 13 league matches this season.

Everton made an impressive start to the campaign, winning four of their opening six Premier League outings under former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

However, they have taken just two points from a possible 21 since then – registering two draws and five losses since their last victory.

Despite seeing 60% of the ball against Brentford, the Toffees were dealt their fifth defeat in six matches on Sunday.

It is also worth pointing out that Everton have failed to score in each of their previous three Premier League games, conceding four goals in the process.

Meanwhile, Liverpool secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Southampton last weekend. Diogo Jota bagged a brace before Thiago Alcantara and Virgil van Dijk completed the rout.

Jurgen Klopp’s men enjoyed 65% possession and recorded 20 shots at Anfield, limiting the Saints to just three attempts on target.

The Reds have now won four of their past six Premier League games and have only suffered one defeat all season in England’s top tier.

When you look at the bigger picture, Liverpool have lost just one of their previous 29 competitive matches across all competitions – underlining their power.

Head-to-head: Everton managed to avoid defeat against their bitter rivals last season, drawing 2-2 on home soil before winning 2-0 at Anfield.

Still, let’s not forget that Everton have managed to win just one of their previous 24 meetings with the Reds across all competitions.

Team news: Everton will be without injured quintet Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes on Wednesday.

As for Liverpool, they currently have Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott sidelined through injury.

Ultimately, Liverpool have been operating on a completely different level to Everton this season. With that in mind, an easy away win is on the cards here.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching their fierce rivals.
