1. FSV Mainz 05 will meet with Arminia Bielefeld in what is a vital clash for the bottom half of the Bundesliga as Bielefeld aim to get out of the bottom three while Mainz battle for status inside the top 10.
As of now, there are eight points that separate either side with the home outfit sitting in a commendable ninth following yet another win for them as they broke into the top eight to now sit seventh.
In fact, Mainz are only four points off the top four now and with a win here, RB Leipzig, Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen will all be looking over their shoulders with Mainz closing in. They are still, however, not expected to battle for the top four in the long run but the club must keep this positivity going.
Bielefeld, on the other hand, are struggling once again in the league this season, a campaign after they avoided the relegation playoffs by just two points and the automatic drop by four.
Now, they are winless with five defeats and four draws and have conceded an alarming 14 goals and scored only five of their own.
It now leaves them as one of the clear favourites to go down this season and it’s tough to see how they get the win here against a Mainz side that has had a brilliant start to the season by their usual topsy-turvy standards.
If there is anything to go by in how this game could go down, it is Mainz’s recent 4-1 thrashing over Augsburg, who themselves are just a point off Bielefeld and a similar outcome may happen here for the away side off the back of another Mainz win.
Karim Onisiwo gave them the lead after 10 minutes before Stefan Bell added another. A Jonathan Burkardt double would seal the deal for Mainz and put them on four wins and four defeat with one draw and this leaves them in a solid place to kick on from their 12th-placed finish last time around.
With this in mind, Forebet predicts Mainz will win again here as they are in great goalscoring form and have managed to keep the goals out relatively well at the same time, as they have conceded only nine in the league. This record is one more than league leaders Bayern Munich and the third least inside the Bundesliga.
