Brentford meet Chelsea in West London Derby

Chelsea have a tricky fixture on Saturday evening at the Brentford Community Stadium against one of the surprise teams in the Premier League. Brentford have already taken points off of Liverpool at home this season, now, they aim to do the same versus Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel could be without Romelu Lukaku due to an injury picked up on international duty. Without the striker, Chelsea could be slightly off colour coming out of the international break.

Brentford are seventh in the standings going into matchday 8. They have taken 12 points from 21 on offer this season. They are unbeaten in three straight games and should be full of confidence ahead of the West London Derby.

The Bees have taken four points from nine on offer at home. They scored five goals and conceded four times at the Brentford Community Stadium. Chelsea, on the other hand, have been nearly perfect on the road.

The Blues have taken seven points from nine away from Stamford Bridge. Tuchel’s team has conceded just once on the road this term. Liverpool were the only team to score against Chelsea as the Reds tallied a penalty at Anfield.

Tuchel will be without Thiago Silva due to playing in Brazil on Thursday night in South America qualifying. Defender Antonio Rudiger is likely to be fit following a lower back issue.

N’Golo Kante and Reece James are both likely to be back from injury. Forward Christian Pulisic is ruled out of the game with an ankle injury.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank received excellent news this week. Kristoffer Ajer is set to return to the team following a thigh strain. Vitaly Janelt is also set for a return following a thigh issue. Frank will be without the trio of Mads Sorensen, Josh Dasilva, and Shandon Baptiste.

There is little history between these teams. They met three times in the FA Cup between 2012 and 2017. Three of Chelsea’s last four games in the Premier League finished with over 2.5 goals scored. Back-to-back games for Brentford ended with over 2.5 goals scored.

Brentford played well against Liverpool in their last home match. Chelsea need to be aware of Brentford’s quality and not look ahead to their midweek Champions League fixture versus Malmo.

Tuchel should have the Blues ready to play their close rival. Chelsea should claim the win at the end of the fixture with the teams combining for over 2.5 goals scored. Both sides should find the back of the net as Chelsea squeeze past the Bees.
