Brazil are unbeaten in World Cup qualifying with 28 points from 30 possible after 10 matches. On Thursday night, Brazil will face off with Uruguay in Manaus for matchday 12 in World Cup qualifying.

Uruguay are desperately seeking points. They sit fourth in the CONMEBOL World Cup standings with 16 points from 33 possible. They are just one point above fifth-place Colombia, who sit in the intercontinental playoff place.

Oscar Tabarez’s team is coming off of a 3-0 loss to Argentina on matchday 11 of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.

The Uruguayans have failed to win their last two games in World Cup qualifying. Uruguay are struggling in qualifying and a loss could see them fall out of the four automatic places.

Brazil drew nil-nil with Colombia last time out. The Brazilians couldn’t find a way through the Colombians’ defence even with Gabriel Jesus and Neymar in the starting XI.

The Selecao have posted a record of 39W-17D-21L dating back to 1916 when the teams first met. Brazil have not lost to Uruguay since 2001. They are unbeaten in 11 straight matches versus Uruguay.

Brazil’s last three matches against Uruguay ended in wins. Their last two games versus the Sky Blues finished in wins to nil.

Casemiro has withdrawal from Brazil's October international games due to injury. Real Madrid teammate Eder Militao is also ruled out of the fixture due to injury. Chelsea’s Thiago Silva could play in defence alongside PSG’s Marquinhos.

Tite could start Leeds United player Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Barbosa in attack alongside Neymar. Raphinha was excellent in a short appearance for Brazil and should be given a chance from the start.

The Brazilian manager could rotate his goalkeepers for the game. Alisson Becker played against Colombia but Ederson is in line to start in between the sticks on Thursday.

Uruguay will have Rodrigo Bentancur back from suspension. He should go straight into the side. Darwin Nunez and Edinson Cavani started on the bench against Argentina, but the duo could start the fixture.

Tabarez played a five-man backline against Argentina with the idea of slowing down an in-form team. His plans backfired as Argentina defeated Uruguay without any issues.

Thursday’s game between Brazil and Uruguay is their second match of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying. Brazil won the reverse fixture in Montevideo 2-0 thanks to goals from Arthur and Richarlison.

Brazil won 2-0 in the previous fixture with two goals in the first half. The Selecao should claim another victory versus Uruguay on Thursday night with another win to nil and under 2.5 goals scored.
