Leicester set for narrow victory over high-flying Seagulls

Brighton & Hove Albion welcome Leicester City to the south coast on Sunday, hoping to build on an impressive start to the 2021/22 Premier League season.

The Seagulls have won three of their four matches this term and find themselves sixth in the table as a result – one point behind the top four sides.

Meanwhile, Leicester have registered two wins and two losses so far. As a result, they sit ninth – three points shy of Brighton.

Graham Potter’s men beat Burnley and Watford in their first two games before losing 2-0 to Everton on Matchday 3.

They bounced back last weekend, however, securing a last-gasp 1-0 victory over Brentford, with Leandro Trossard scoring a 90th-minute winner.

Only five teams in the Premier League have lost fewer games than Brighton this season, while only a handful of sides have a better defensive record.

It is also worth pointing out that Brighton have only lost one of their previous seven home games in all competitions.

It’s safe to say that Leicester have enjoyed an indifferent start to the season, picking up two wins and two losses in the league.

The Foxes have beaten Wolves and Norwich this term, but they have also lost to West Ham and Manchester City.

Still, we shouldn’t forget that Leicester have only lost three of their previous 20 away matches in all competitions.

Rodgers’ men opened their Europa League account on Thursday, drawing 2-2 with Italian side Napoli at the King Power.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Ayoze Perez and Harvey Barnes, Leicester conceded two second-half goals and were forced to settle for a point.

Head-to-head: It is worth noting that Leicester haven’t lost any of their last nine meetings with Brighton in all competitions.

The Foxes did the double over the Seagulls last term, winning 1-0 on home soil before beating Brighton 2-1 at the Amex.

Team news: Brighton could be without as many as seven first-team players this weekend, with Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster, and Pascal Gross among the notable absentees.

Leicester currently have two players sidelined through injury – centre-back Wesley Fofana and full-back James Justin.

Although Brighton have made a strong start to the season, Leicester’s impressive recent record in this fixture is difficult to ignore.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Leicester will edge out Brighton at the Amex – scoring over 1.5 goals on their way to victory.
