Hertha Berlin will be keen to return to the more familiar surroundings of their Olympiastadion Berlin ground on Friday night where the hosts will entertain fellow strugglers, Greuther Furth, in this important basement clash in the Bundesliga.

Following three straight defeats to start their new German top flight campaign in disastrous fashion, Hertha Berlin finally got off the mark with an impressive 3-1 win away from home at Bochum last weekend and they’ll be keen to make it back-to-back victories on Friday night.

Hertha Berlin had previously slipped to losses against Koln, Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich but this upcoming home fixture against the basement dwellers, Greuther Furth, represents a golden opportunity for the Berlin hosts to pick up the maximum three points here.

Despite their lowly position of third from bottom in the Bundesliga, Hertha Berlin’s recent results overall haven’t been too shabby as they’ve lost just four of their last 13 matches overall, only one of which was at home.

The hosts have lost just one of their last seven games at home in the German top flight.

It’s still early days of course in this season’s Bundesliga campaign but already, Greuther Furth look to have their work cut out if they’re to maintain their German top flight status this season as the visitors currently occupy bottom spot in the Bundesliga with just one point to their name.

That solitary point came in the shape of a 1-1 draw at home with Arminia Bielefeld but three defeats in their opening four matches of this new term to Stuttgart, Mainz and Wolfsburg do not bode well for the newly promoted side.

It’s been eight years since Greuther Furth last appeared in the Bundesliga but the early defeats this term means that the visitors are likely to be facing a long and tough battle against relegation and although they face one of the ‘lesser lights’ in the Bundesliga on Friday night, nevertheless, they may well be up against it once more on Friday night.

Greuther Furth’s previous two encounters against Hertha Berlin both ended in 2-0 defeats home and away and another similar scoreline could unfold here on Friday night at the Olympiastadion Berlin with the hosts grabbing an important three points to move away from the bottom at the expense of Greuther Furth.
