The Jose Mourinho Roma revolution to continue against Sassuolo

Jose Mourinho has been a hit at Roma thus far. Roma have taken six points from six possible in Serie A and are joint top of the league.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will remember the heady days of Mourinho’s success in north London this time a season ago. It all fell apart around Christmas time and Roma fans will hope the same does not happen in the Italian capital.

Sassuolo arrive in the capital after making a successful start to the Serie A campaign. The Neroverdi have taken four points from six possible with a win against Hellas Verona and draw versus Sampdoria.

Alessio Dionisi’s team defeated Hellas Verona away to start the season 3-2. The new coach will hope the side can pull off another win on the road. However, Sassuolo are playing a Roma side that has scored seven goals and conceded just once in two games.

With Juventus off to a slow start (one point from six), Roma will be licking their lips that Serie A is up for grabs this season.

Roma’s summer signing of striker Tammy Abraham looks like a brilliant move. Abraham has one goal and two assists in two appearances. The English striker adds an edge to the side that Edin Dzeko had lost with age.

Abraham will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet once more as the fans in Rome have taken to the attacking player.

Mourinho does have multiple names on the Roma injury list ahead of the game. Goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato is ruled out until October due to a head injury. Midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has suffered a hamstring injury and is out for a few weeks.

Midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini remains sidelined and Gianluca Mancini is likely to miss the fixture with a foot injury. Defender Matias Vina is ruled out until October with a hip problem. Centre-back Chris Smalling could return from a hamstring injury.

Dionisi has just one name on the Sassuolo injury list. Filippo Romagna is nursing a knee problem and is a doubt to play. Sassolo’s three goals this season have come from three different players. Filip Duricic, Giamoco Raspadori, and Hamed Junior Traore have scored the team’s trio of goals.

The game should resemble Roma’s previous home 3-1 win over Fiorentina with both teams finding the back of the net. Roma should come through with a third straight win and potentially go to the top of the table.

The sides should combine for over 2.5 goals scored, something Roma’s previous two games in Serie A have done, as the Giallorossi win against.
