Man Utd set to run riot when Newcastle visit Old Trafford

Manchester United will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when Newcastle United visit Old Trafford on Saturday.

On the flip side, Newcastle will be searching for their first win of the campaign, having drawn one and lost two of their opening three matches.

The Magpies find themselves seventeenth with just a single point to their name, while third-place Man Utd sit on seven points – two points behind first-place Tottenham.

The Red Devils thrashed Leeds United 5-1 on the opening weekend, yet they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Matchday 2.

Mason Greenwood came to the rescue last time out, however, as Man Utd sealed a 1-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux.

When you look at the bigger picture, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have only lost three of their previous 35 Premier League games.

They have also scored at least one goal in each of their last 14 league matches on home soil, meaning Newcastle will almost certainly struggle to keep a clean sheet this weekend.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Old Trafford. The Portuguese megastar could run riot against the Magpies if he gets the nod.

Newcastle were crushed 4-2 by West Ham in their first game of the season, with a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa coming the weekend after.

After losing to Burnley on penalties in the EFL Cup, Steve Bruce’s side managed to claim their first point of the campaign last time out – drawing 2-2 with Southampton.

Callum Wilson has netted two of Newcastle’s four goals this term, while Jacob Muphy and Allan Saint-Maximin both have a goal and an assist to their name.

Needless to say, if the Magpies want to start climbing up the table, they will need more players to chip in with goals and assists.

Head-to-head: Man Utd have won five of their previous six meetings with Newcastle in the Premier League.

It is also worth noting that each of their last three meetings have produced over 3.5 goals, with Man Utd scoring a combined total of 11 goals in that time.

Team news: Cristiano Ronaldo is in line to make his second debut for Man Utd on Saturday. However, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Alex Telles and Dean Henderson are all injured.

Newcastle will be without Martin Dubravka, Jonjo Shelvey and Karl Darlow this weekend, meaning Freddie Woodman should start in goal again.

Considering Man Utd’s recent record of high-scoring wins over Newcastle, the Red Devils are set to secure another big victory this weekend.

Forebet predicts that Man Utd will once again score over 2.5 goals en route to seeing off the Magpies with ease.
