The Quakes and Houston Dynamo Set for a Draw Outside the Playoff Places
2192

The San Jose Earthquakes will welcome Houston Dynamo to the PayPal Park in California with the Quakes in desperate need of a win to keep up any hopes of a playoff place at the end of the season.

It is not all doom and gloom for the San Jose side, but with a league-high 24 goals let in within the Western Conference, they are gradually slipping into turmoil.

At the same time, the Quakes have also lost seven times, a joint-league highest this season as well, whilst the club have won just three games from 14 outings.

On the other hand, Matías Almeyda’s team have managed to net 16 goals from 14 games, which for a team placed 11th in the table out of 13, is a decent turnover, and it proves they can be a problem.

However, they are now without a win in nine games, with their last victory coming against Real Salt Lake back in early May, as they ran out 2-1 winners.

Recently, the Quakes have drawn with Minnesota United and the Colorado Rapids, with back-to-back 1-1 draws, meaning they have edged past the Vancouver Whitecaps at the bottom of the table, but still sit way off the playoffs.

As for the Dynamo, things are not exactly much better, but they are no doubt boasting a lot more hope than their opponents this weekend as they sit three points above them and a little closer to the playoffs, with a ninth-placed seat right now.

Although, the Texas outfit summed up their season in one game last time out when they met the Whitecaps. In this clash, a 0-0 draw was played out, and the Houston Dynamo never really threatened the team that is below them in the table, which forced more of a gap on the playoffs as a result.

Furthermore, similarly to the Quakes, this extended their winless streak to seven and with so many draws coming within that period, the Houston side have now drawn seven times, which is a league-high in the Western Conference.

On the other hand, however, both sides have scored 16 goals each and not much separates them as they meet this Sunday.

It may not be a lacklustre game with so much riding on it for the end of the season standings and both sides may have chances, as their goals scored is fairly decent compared to their goals let in. However, a score draw looks likely.
