Viktoria Plzen expected to see off Dynamo Brest on home soil

Viktoria Plzen vs Dinamo Brest Preview 22/07/2021

Viktoria Plzen expected to see off Dynamo Brest on home soil

Czech side Viktoria Plzen and Belarusian outfit Dynamo Brest go head-to-head at Doosan Arena for the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier this Thursday.

After finishing fourth in the Belarusian Premier League last season, Dynamo Brest booked their spot in the inaugural Europa Conference League qualifying phase.

Meanwhile, Viktoria Plzen secured a place in Conference League qualifying after ending the 2020/21 Czech First League campaign in fourth.

Plzen have yet to kick off their domestic campaign this year but have already picked up a series of positive results in pre-season.

In fact, they have played six pre-season friendlies across June and July – picking up five wins and one draw along the way.

Across their six friendlies, Plzen have scored 15 goals (2.5 goals per game) and only conceded four time (three clean sheets).

Following back-to-back wins at the end of last season, Plzen head into Thursday’s clash on an eight-game unbeaten streak in all competitions.

On the other hand, Dynamo Brest are already 16 games into their current domestic season, although things aren’t exactly going to plan.

They have only managed to pick up five league wins this term, recording nine draws and two losses in the process.

Having conceded just ten goals, Brest boast the second-best defensive record in the Belarusian top-flight this season.

They have scored just 19 goals, however, meaning only a handful of sides in the league have scored more.

It is worth pointing out that each of Brest’s previous five games in all competitions have been drawn after 90 minutes.

Head-to-head: Thursday’s clash will be the first meeting between Viktoria Plzen and Dynamo Brest, giving us no previous results to assess for this fixture.

Team news: Neither side have any injury problems heading into Thursday’s game, so both managers look set to field a strong starting XI.

It’s fair to say that Dynamo Brest are enduring a difficult domestic campaign at the moment, and that could impact their performances in Europe.

On the flip side, Plzen have claimed a series of impressive results in pre-season and look set to kick off the campaign in good form.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Plzen will claim a high-scoring win on Thursday, with over 3.5 total match goals looking likely.
