In the early hours of Tuesday morning, host nation Brazil face Peru at Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Stadium in the first 2021 Copa America semi-final.

Brazil booked their spot in the last four thanks to a 1-0 victory over Chile, while Peru drew 3-3 with Paraguay before advancing on penalties.

Let’s not forget that Brazil thrashed Peru 4-0 in the group stage at the same venue less than a fortnight ago.

The Brazilians have now registered four wins and one draw at this summer’s Copa America, scoring a combined total of 11 goals (2.2 goals per game).

They have also conceded just twice along the way, keeping clean sheets against Venezuela, Peru and Chile.

Having secured seven straight victories in the lead-up to the tournament, Brazil are currently enjoying a 12-match unbeaten streak in all competitions (11 wins, one draw).

It is also worth noting that Tite’s men have achieved nine shutouts in that time and have netted 30 goals in the process.

Unsurprisingly, Neymar has been Brazil’s key man this summer, bagging two goals and two assists in the tournament.

As for Peru, they have relied heavily on Gianluca Lapadula (three goals, one assist) and Andre Carrilo (two goals, two assists).

Despite recording a goal difference of –2, Peru managed to register two wins, one draw and one loss to finish second in Group B – three points behind Brazil.

After being thrashed by Brazil, Peru beat Colombia and Venezuela, with a draw coming against second-bottom Ecuador.

The Peruvians appeared to be heading into the semi-finals when Yoshimar Yotun gave his country a 3-2 lead on 80 minutes in the previous round.

However, Paraguay ended up scoring a 90th-minute equaliser and took the game to extra-time and penalties.

Head-to-head: As we know, Brazil hammered Peru 4-0 in the group stage, with goals coming from Alex Sandro, Neymar, Everton Ribeiro and Richarlison.

Brazil have now won five of their previous six meetings with Peru in all competitions, scoring over 2.5 goals on four occasions.

Team news: Brazil will be without Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus for the semi-final after he was sent off against Chile.

Similarly, Peru’s Andre Carrillo will miss the clash with Brazil through suspension following a red card against Paraguay.

Brazil’s march towards the 2021 Copa America final looks set to continue with a straightforward victory over Peru.

Forebet predicts that Brazil will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to overcoming the Peruvians.
