Bohemians and St. Patrick’s Athletic set for top-four clash in LoI Premier Division
4134

Bohemians host League of Ireland Premier Division league leaders St. Patrick’s Athletic on Friday at Dalymount Park.

The Gypsies are fourth in the division and eight points back of Bohemians following 18 matches.

St. Patrick’s Athletic are level on points with Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers in a three-way race for the Premier Division title. A poor result against Bohemians could see St. Patrick’s Athletic finish the weekend outside of first place.

It is goals scored that has St. Patrick’s Athletic in first place. They are +13 in goal difference just like Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers. It is the club’s 30 goals scored that have them in first place currently.

The teams have split the last four meetings two wins apiece. The clubs have already met twice this term with St. Patrick’s Athletic claiming wins in both games.

St. Pat’s went to Dalymount Park in April and won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ronan Coughlan in the second half.

The second match of the season saw St. Patrick’s Athletic win 2-1 in a hot contest. St. Patrick’s Athletic scored in the 74th minute through Matt Smith. The game saw two penalties in the 90th minute with both teams scoring. Robbie Benson’s penalty goal gave St. Patrick’s Dublin the win.

Bohemians are in great form at Dalymount Park. They have won five straight games at home. Bohemians took 15 points from the last 18 at home scoring 19 goals and allowing a mere three.

Along with being eight points off of St. Patrick’s Athletic in first place, they are eight points off of Europa League Conference qualification. Another home victory would pull the Gypsies closer in the table to the top three.

St. Patrick’s away form has been poor. They took nine points from the last 18 on offer on the road. Although St. Pat’s score 10 times over the course of those last six matches, they conceded eight times to opponents.

Bohemians’ Georgie Kelly leads the Premier Division in goals with 11. He has tallied 37% of Bohemians goals. Coughlan has tallied seven goals for St. Patrick’s Athletic, which leads the team. The goalscorer has tallied 23% of the team’s goals in 2021.

St. Patrick’s Athletic’s away form has dipped and that should see them drop points against Bohemians this Friday. The Gypsies should pull closure to the top three with a win.

Like two of the last three matches between these teams, expect them to score over 2.5 goals as both clubs get on the scoresheet. In the end, Bohemians will claim the win to continue their great home form.
