In the early hours of Sunday (CET), Seattle Sounders host Vancouver Whitecaps at Lumin Stadium in MLS, as the Sounders look to continue a good start to the campaign in the Western Conference.

Seattle Sounders have kicked off the new MLS campaign with a ten-game unbeaten run, including seven wins and three defeats.

The good start to the campaign has seen them rise to the top of the Western Conference, four points clear of second-place Sporting Kansas City, while having played a game less than KC.

Seattle recorded a second straight league victory in the Western Conference last time out, as they defeated Real Lake City 2-1. The game saw Peruvian forward Manuel Ruidiaz score for the second consecutive league match.

The Sounders have built their lofty position in the Western Conference table on good home form, as they are unbeaten in 15 matches on home soil.

Brian Schmetzer’s team have also scored at least two goals in five of their last seven MLS games on their own patch.

Vancouver Whitecaps have experienced a poor start to the new MLS season.

The Canadian outfit are joint-bottom of the Western Conference table after picking up just seven points from their nine outings so far this season.

Their recent league form has been truly woeful, as a 2-1 home defeat against LA Galaxy means that the Whitecaps have suffered five straight league defeats, while also conceding at least two goals in all their last four league outings.

While their defensive play has been poor of late, they also have worries at the other end of the pitch, as only Austin FC have scored fewer goals than the visitors in the Western Conference this season.
