Colombia to hold upper hand over Peru
3743

Colombia will be in confident mood ahead of this upcoming Group B clash against Peru on Sunday evening at the Estádio Olímpico Pedro Ludovico Teixeira.

They’ve picked up four points from their opening two matches of this Copa America tournament.

A solid start for Colombia has seen them pick up an important three points with a 1-0 win against Ecuador which was followed up with a 0-0 draw with Venezuela and has placed Colombia in 2nd place in Group B just two points behind the group leaders, Brazil.

These two unbeaten games has also extended Colombia’s unbeaten run in all competitions to four matches as they’d previously registered a 3-0 win against Peru and picked up a solid point in a 2-2 draw with Argentina.

That sequence of results should give Colombia plenty of confidence in adding to their points tally on Sunday evening.

The bigger picture shows that Colombia have lost just three of their last 14 matches in all competitions and they’re also unbeaten in their last 10 meetings against Peru, winning the last three encounters on the trot.

Peru slumped back to their losing ways in their opening match of this year’s Copa America tournament as they were handed a heavy 4-0 defeat by the hosts, Brazil, making it just one win from their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Peru have suffered seven defeats within this poor 10-match sequence which has contributed to Peru’s basement position in the South American World Cup qualifying table, while also sitting bottom of Group B as well.

Recent results suggest that this could be another tough evening at the office for Peru as they’ve lost five of their last six matches, conceding a total of 16 goals and scoring just four in reply.

Although, the previous history also appears to be against them following previous encounters against Colombia, losing their last three meetings on the trot, Peru could be staring down the barrel of another loss on Sunday evening.

The bigger picture shows that Peru have won just two of their last 13 matches overall in all competitions and previous poor results do not bode well for Ricardo Gareca’s side here.
